Fat girl in a little coat...and every other piece of clothing I own

So I am beginning a real diet and exercise regimen tomorrow. I dread it...it's going to suck but it's necessary. I'm tired of being overweight and out of shape. I hope to hold myself accountable by posting my weekly progress on here. So, even if I blow it, I will have to tell...ouch! Wish me luck.

10 things I love about my roommate

My roommate Amanda is awesome. We became friends in undergrad and she is the best friend that I've ever had...she's pretty much like a sister. Inspired by "10 Things I Hate About You", I just feel the need to write 10 things that I love about her as a person and my roommate:

10. She kills all the creepy insects that come in thanks to the ridiculously lush landscaping at our apartment. She would even do it if she was in her room or the living room and I yelled from the other end of the apartment while standing on my bed!

9. She nearly always humors me...even when I am totally ridiculous and insane (and I often am totally ridiculous and insane).

8. She's so reasonably clever! And in spite of what Anna says, Amanda had it first!

7. She helped Courtney wash vomit out of my hair a few years ago...even before we were really very close! Anyone that will wash vomit out your hair is a good friend!!!

6. Her mom and sister rock my face off...and since she's my roommate, I get to have sort of an extra, adopted family.

5. She gets my sense of humor (or at least is decent enough to pretend to), when so few others seem to get my quirky, dry humor.

4. She is my personal shopper and stylist when I really need help (which as most know, I always need help!).

3. She lets me obsessively and excessively watch Law and Order:SVU on the big TV :). And I DO mean excessively! (I'm watching it now while I write this).

2. She deals with my dark moods...and my crazy hyper ones.

1. She's, LITERALLY, a genius! She even graduated from undergrad with a 4.0...I mean, come on!!!

Halloween Party

Sometimes I hate blogspot! I just wrote a nice long blog about my successful jaunt to a Halloween party and it all disappeared. I'm so pissed right now. Anyway the basic gist was that I went to a party with lots of lots of people in an apartment. I not only survived but had a good time. It went far better than my last attempt at a Halloween party (Courtney and I hosted one a few years ago and it did not end pleasantly!). Eventhough I am terrified of being around lots of people and it was a costume party, I enjoyed myself a lot!! I sadly never thought of anything clever to wear, but I went as a nun (thanks to Tadd's suggestion) and I talked to everyone and laughed a lot. Also I will remember the entire night, I didn't try to make out with gay men or anyone else, I'm not going to throw up, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to wake up in the clothes that I'm wearing now :). All in all, a complete success...thanks to Elizabeth, Gillian, Tiffany, Maureen, and anyone else involved in the planning of the Halloween bash.

Life, how to I love thee? Let me count the ways...

So I suck at updating my blog. Here's what's been going on in my life.

1. I drive back and forth from Knoxville and Carson-Newman EVERY weekday. One day I actually only drive there for a single 30 min lesson.

2. I've actually tried to faithfully attend and pay attention to my song lit (aka: Verdi Survey/V.I.V.A Verdi).

3. Suffering through above class is made even more tedious and painful by hearing the word "doge" all this week...the only saving grace is Tadd's puns on the word (ex. just doging off, you guys are being doge-bags, etc.)

4. Thanks to my nearly equally painful diction class has helped me to be able to IPA the word "doge"...I would do it here but I don't have an 'edgzh' to do it.

5. My awesome and soon-to-be 16 year old nephew, Ben is in a great band called "Optional Reason" and they made a CD. His friend Matt wrote a lot of lyrics, Ben also wrote some....and Ben wrote and arranged all the music and played guitar for the CD. He's this great, wonderfully talented kid and I love him. I'm beaming with pride.

6. A week or two ago I went to the Trail of Doom in Corryton. I was an idiot and wore flip flops. I'm the biggest whiny weiner in the world...I HATED it. P.S. It's not really possible to run in flip flops in the darka nd keep them on your feet. I carried them in my shoes almost the whole time and went barefoot. No tetanus yet ;). My feet were pretty gross though.

7. I'm getting ready to sing in Hadyn's Creation. I'm an alto 1 in the army of KCS people.

8. I just cut my hair tonight...I guess that the longest part is about chin length and the shortest layer is to my ear. It had grown down to my shoulders. My mom might have a heart attack tomorrow when she sees it since she likes it long...we'll see.

9. I am a new VIP of Kanpai of Tokyo. That's not a joke. I love, love, love this restaurant. It's a Japanese Hibachi Steak House and it's SO good. They have good sushi there. I usually go there for Saturday lunch...sometimes more often or a different day. Nonetheless, since Amanda and I got this apartment together in Knoxville, we have eaten there a ton of times. Now I have a VIP card...sort of a bonus program. I think it's hilarious and great.

10. I stole this list format from Courtney. I hope that she doesn't mind! I just liked the idea a lot. Thanks Court.

Well, I hope that catches up people a little bit. Thanks to those who might still try to read this even though I've sucked at keeping it current. I love you guys.

About Me

My photo
I moved to Nashville to start (another) grad school. It's scary, but it's also cool because my best friend and I are finally in grad school together...delayed, but it happened.
